Statement on the Terni trial

The Federazione dei Comunisti Anarchici views events at a trial under way in Terni with great concern, a trial during which the prosecutor is said to have defined the "Informal Anarchist Federation" as the armed wing of the Italian Anarchist Federation (FAI).

This sort of statement is typical of the police methods throughout the world which seek to criminalize all form of social protest, by reducing it to terrorist and/or insurrectionalist activity.

The Federazione dei Comunisti Anarchici, its branches and its members

  • expresses its full solidarity with the comrades of the Italian Anarchist Federation;

  • denounces how once again the State resorts to trickery, lies and witch-hunts against anarchists in order to legitimize its persecution and repression of anyone who has a different idea of social justice and freedom;

  • notes the worrying use of judicial lines of enquiry to try to criminalize and destroy the reputation of class-struggle anarchists' constant, continuous and conscious work which we carry out in full view of everyone in the workplace and in the community, ready to demand every day through our militant, class activity the right of the exploited to emancipate themselves from need, to build direct democracy from below in public organizations that are transparent, self-managed and federated;

  • points out firmly that anarchist methods of struggle in the social sotruggles are known to all, though certainly not appreciated by the bosses, and have as their priority objective the immediate and future satisfaction of the needs of all workers, the defence of casual workers, immigrants, women, the weakest elements of the labour market, from increasingly brutal exploitation;

  • rejects any and all attempts at creating confusion between the formal structures and political activity of the organized anarchist movement in Italy and any so-called "Informal Anarchist Federation".
United in the libertarian method of action and in class solidarity, we firmly re-state this solidarity once again with the FAI.
