Thugs beat immigrant in a Greek squat

English translation of Prapopoulou Squat’s announcement re the recent attack on 1 August 2009.

On 1 August 2009 at 02:00 AM two thugs in helmets stopped with their motorcycle by the Prapopoulou squat and using iron bars they tried (unsuccessfully) to break doors and windows.

By pure chance at that moment a homeless immigrant, friend of the squat, was inside. When the thugs took notice of him, they launched a savage attack with their iron bars, hitting his head and body while engaging in racist hate speech. They then left, leaving behind them a container filled with petrol.

Neighbours heard the attacked man pleading for help and called an ambulance and nursed him. The fascist thugs failed to damage the squat. The general assembly was mobilised immediately, including comrades in solidarity. The fascists managed to injure, fortunately nor seriously, an immigrant.

Another parastate attack which comes to boost the state’s attempts towards the fascisticisation of society, against the repressed and struggling societal strata, the immigrants, and the self-managed social spaces and occupations.

Τα ξημερώματα της 1ης Αυγούστου, γύρω στις 2, παραβιάζονται τα συρματοπλέγματα του κτήματος Πραποπούλου και δύο κρανοφόροι που κατέβηκαν απο μηχανή κρατώντας λοστούς κινούνται προς το κτίριο της κατάληψης. Επιχειρούν ανεπιτυχώς να διαρρήξουν παράθυρα και πόρτες.

Στο κτήμα από σύμπτωση εκείνη τη στιγμή βρίσκεται άνθρωπος της γειτονιάς οικείος στην κατάληψη, άστεγος και μετανάστης. Όταν τον αντιλαμβάνονται, του επιτίθενται χτυπώντας τον αλεπάλληλα στο κεφάλι και στο σώμα με τους λοστούς φωνάζοντας ρατσιστικές βρισιές και διαφεύγουν από το σημείο που ήρθαν, στο οποίο βρέθηκε και ένα στουπί με βενζίνη.

Τις εκκλήσεις του χτυπημένου για βοήθεια ακούν οι γείτονες που καλούν ασθενοφόρο και τον περιθάλπτουν προσωρινά. Τα φασιστοειδή αφήνουν πίσω τους ελάχιστες ζημιές. Αμέσως κινητοποιήθηκαν η συνέλευση της κατάληψης και οι αλληλέγγυοι.
Τα φασιστοειδή κατάφεραν να τραυματίσουν ευτυχώς όχι σοβαρά έναν μετανάστη.

Άλλο ένα παρακρατικό χτύπημα που έρχεται να ενισχύσει τον εκφασισμό της κοινωνίας που έχει δρομολογηθεί από το κράτος εναντίον καταπιεσμένων και αγωνιζόμενων κομματιών της κοινωνίας, μεταναστών, αυτοδιαχειριζόμενων κοινωνικών χώρων και καταλήψεων.
