Support the anarchist comrades at the Auditorio Ché Guevara

The prganizers of the 1st Anarchist Congress of Mexico wish to make the following statement in solidarity with the comrades of the Auditorio Ché Guevara following the various attacks aimed at boycotting and defaming the work of various autonomous, self-managed projects being carried on in the auditorium.

The attacks have so far consisted of:

1. increasingly constant vigilance outside the auditorium by the UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico) security personnel;


2. harassment, with participating comrades being photographed at the auditorium;


3. material damage to the auditorium, such as frequent cutting of electricity and water supply;


4. defamation via internet of the work being carried on by comrades in the auditorium;


5. selective positions being taken by political groups within the UNAM, distorting the use and operations of this space which is open to the struggles of the people but not to Political Parties, front groups, paramilitary or authoritarian groups, be they part of the UNAM or any other institution;


6. the recent circumstance, when bills purportedly from the Attorney General's office were posted outside the auditorium offering a reward (of a million pesos) in exchange for information about certain comrades, accused of links with drug trafficking or organized crime.

For these reasons, the signatories of this statement wish to demonstrate their fullest solidarity with the comrades.

We also wish to recognize the autonomous, self-managed work being carried on at the auditorium, which is fully in accordance with anarchist practices and ethics.

We call on everyone to remain alert for any signs of repression and harassment against the auditorium and the comrades who work there.
