Free all the detained Tunisians!

on 4th May, at 1.00pm, the French police showed its solidarity with the Tunisian people struggling from their freedom by attacking - with practically military methods - the undocumented Tunisian occupiers of 51 Rue Simon Bolivar (in the 19th arrondissement of Paris). The Tunisians had taken refuge there to escape from last week's raids by the forces of repression on Tunisian nationals. The attack resulted in the arrest of over a hundred Tunisians and a number of supporters, including a member of Alternative Libertaire, who are currently being held in various police stations around Paris. This extremely violent operation was carried out with the use of considerable resources, with deployment of officers and vehicles extending throughout the whole neighborhood. We also note that the arrests took place near the building of the Confédération Française Démocratique du Travail (CFDT - French Democratic Confederation of Labour), none of whose activists lifted a finger to protest against the atrocities that were taking place before their eyes, typical the general stance of this trade union. p> On 12th January, [former Foreign Minister] Michèle Alliot-Marie suggested that the French police should support the Tunisian dictatorship with their "expertise". Voilà - so they have, it seems.

Alternative Libertaire denounces the government's xenophobic policy with regard to Tunisian immigrants and to migrants in general, and the violent methods of the French police against them and their supporters. Alternative Libertaire demands the immediate release of all detainees, and supports the claims of all undocumented migrants to be regularization.
