We, militants of the Zabalaza Anarchist Communist Front (ZACF), send you a big clenched fist salute and revolutionary internationalist greetings on this the historic occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the Federación Anarquista Uruguaya (FAU) – commemorating 60 years of struggle for freedom and socialism. ZACF message to the Federación Anarquista Uruguaya on its 60th AnniversaryWe, militants of the Zabalaza Anarchist Communist Front (ZACF), send you a big clenched fist salute and revolutionary internationalist greetings on this the historic occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the Federación Anarquista Uruguaya – commemorating 60 years of struggle for freedom and socialism. Knowing all the obstacles and challenges that we in the ZACF have and continue to face in trying to build a revolutionary anarchist movement rooted in the daily life, struggles and fighting organisations of the oppressed classes we can only begin to imagine the commitment, hard work and sacrifices that must have gone into building the FAU, developing its extensive social insertion and influence in the fighting organisations and struggles of the oppressed Uruguayan people and sustaining it over such a long period – including under such incredibly harsh circumstances as military dictatorship. This, for us, is a source of inspiration and reassurance and we pay homage to all the militants of the FAU, both past and present, who, through their conviction and commitment to the emancipation and redemption of mankind through social revolution, their spirit of working class solidarity and resistance, their selfless sacrifices and tireless militancy continue to be a beacon of hope and a source of strength, inspiration and wisdom not only for the ZACF but anarchists and anarchist organisations around the world. We will always recognise FAU as one of those organisations that has made every effort to advance the cause of organised class struggle anarchism and internationalism. It has not only been a source of inspiration to the ZACF, but FAU has and continues to be an important theoretical and organisational reference for us and has played an important part – sometimes indirectly, through its influence on and support for the especifista organisations in Brazil – in contributing to the development, survival and growth of the ZACF. Indeed, our organisational conceptions and theoretical understandings of anarchism have been influenced and enriched by what little we think we know or understand about the FAU’s practical and historical experience, its theoretical conceptions and strategic outlook – as well as those of especifismo in general. It has been a long and no doubt hard and bumpy road since 1956. We honour the many FAU militants, like Alberto “Pocho” Mechoso, who gave up their freedom and even their lives in the struggle for freedom and socialism. Yet, after all is said and done, you are celebrating another milestone, another anniversary. You continue to keep the red and black banner of class struggle anarchism alive and well on the Latin American continent – holding it up as an example for all to see. Convinced as we are of the need for anarchist militants to be organised politically, in anarchist political organisations – and for these to seek social insertion within the movements and struggles of the oppressed classes – it is very reassuring for us to be able to reference, and count amongst our comrades, an organisation such as FAU and its militants. Although there is a vast ocean between us, FAU has always been like a distant relative we wish we had more time to spend with and engage, and we hope to continue and deepen this relationship between our organisations. Comrades, we salute the FAU and stand with you in our common struggle for a new world, shoulder to shoulder, fists raised and heads held high, hearts and minds fixed on a new horizon. On freedom and socialism. Arriba l@s que luchan! |
