Alternative Libertaire statement on a new article from Al Badil al Chouyouii al Taharrouri (Lebanon)

On 27th July 2006, Alternative Libertaire (France) distributed a text entitled "News from Lebanon: the Israeli attack" by our Lebanese comrades, Al-Badil al-Chouyouii al-Taharrouri (Libertarian Communist Alternative). This text denounced the Israeli war, Western plans for a Great Middle East, and criticized Hezbollah as a religious and reactionary organization.

Statement by Alternative Libertaire

on a new article from Al-Badil al-Chouyouii al-Taharrouri (Lebanon) published in "Alternative libertaire", n°154, September 2006

On 27th July 2006, Alternative Libertaire (France) distributed a text entitled "News from Lebanon: the Israeli attack" by our Lebanese comrades, Al-Badil al-Chouyouii al-Taharrouri (Libertarian Communist Alternative). This text denounced the Israeli war, Western plans for a Great Middle East, and criticized Hezbollah as a religious and reactionary organization. It also included positive appreciation of the "14th March" movement that provoked a certain emotional reaction in some. Its approximate formulation allowed one to believe that al-Badil supported the political coalition known as the "14th March" coalition.

By "14th March movement", our comrades intended to indicate the street demonstrations against Syrian interference that followed the murder of Rafik Hariri and a certain aspiration towards liberty that they express. On no account can it be intended to mean support for the coalition of political parties that later went on to form the "14th March Current". We have therefore distributed their point of view in the form of a revised and updated version in the September edition of our journal.
