ZACF press release on the redesign of zabalaza.net
We are pleased to announce the redesign of the ever-popular Zabalaza website, the world's premier portal for news, analysis, history and theory on class-struggle issues on the African continent.
Because of the vast amounts of documentation that http://www.zabalaza.net has built up over the years, the site has been redesigned to make it much easier for surfers to navigate.
The basic structure of the new site is...
1) News & Literature: Here you will find all Breaking News from the International anarchist movement; articles from the southern African (SA) anarchist journal "Zabalaza" (meaning "Struggle"); Leaflets and Talks produced by southern African anarchists; our In-Depth Analysis of the conditions, struggles and the way we see them needing to be taken forward and Audio files on various issues relating to the movement.
2) Groups: Here you will find links to websites of the prisoners support collective, the Anarchist Black Cross (southern Africa); the collective responsible for publishing, Zabalaza Books; to the pages of the Zabalaza Anarchist Communist Federation (ZACF) which is the home linking the organised anarchist collectives and individuals in southern Africa and the Archive of recent previously-existing anarchist groups and federations in southern Africa and materials produced by them.
3) The Anarchist Tradition: Here you will find texts on the Platformist Tradition of which the ZACF is a part; texts on Anarchist Theory; on Anarchist History and texts on the Fighting History of Southern Africa.
4) Links: Here you will find links to the ZACF's Sister Organisations around the world; links to SA Social Movement and Union sites; to News Sites of the struggle; and Other Anarchist Sites of interest.

Thanks. Link has been fixed.

Great! After this website, zabalaza.net is the one I use most. I especially like all the nice PDFs you've made, and I've read, printed and distributed quite a few, as well.
I always liked both the content and design of the site, but the structure (information architecture) was confusing - the new site fixed this in a nice way.
However, I just wanted to make one suggestion regarding the structure, which has still not been solved.
I think you should crosslink (link back and forth) from Zabalaza books "Download section" to the "Anarchist Theory" page in the Anarchist tradition, as well as the other way around.
Thanks anyway, for this great resource!
I have to agree with the previous poster. When I am downloading pdfs for distribution here at the ends of the Earth, Zabalaza is always the primary source. The Irish comrades are the second. Most every other anarchist site in the world requires wading through oceans of bullshit (both ideological and "production values" wise) to get to something valuable.
A few comments. I tried the "breaking news" links and it was a blank as the administrators were trying to eliminate the "huge volumes of spam". On my own blog (Molly's Blog) I haven't gone to any extremes to eliminate the spam. Little gets through, and what does is easily and pleasurably eliminated. My comrade Larry Gambone has suggested using "word verification" to eliminate the problem. If Zabalaza cannot solve the problem in another way then that may be an option. Computer generated spam generally doesn't respond to "word verification".
Also, I notice that the last issue of the Zabalaza journal listed on the website is dated April, 2005. Are the South African comrades still producing the printed journal ? Just a question.

Hi pat,
Just to let you know that the next issue of the journal is nearly done and should be out within a week or 2. I'm pretty sure it'll be posted up here on anarkismo when done.
Salut,
G.
Hi Kim,
Thanks for the suggestion of crosslinking the ZB downloads page and the Anarchist Theory page. The links have been added.
For freedom,
G.
