It's pretty rough being an Israeli anarchist these days. On a good day you are dismissed as irresponsible and naive, ignorant of history and blind to reality while your dedicated, life-risking activities are, at best, an easily-absorbed tantrum in the Nanny State. And that's on a good day. The normal treatment is a bit less savory. You are violently despised, branded a fifth column for Iran and al-Qaida, and all the beatings, tear-gassings and shootings you and your comrades endure are gleefully cheered on, alongside the usual calls to put the anarchists up against the wall.

Jump To Comment: 1 2The hate filled comments sent to the article above really give a taste of what is like to be a critic of Zionism in Israel -or the US. They show quite little use of reason but a lot of irrational hatred, prejudice, intolerance and ignorance around the conflict and its origins (talk about terrorism? What about shelling civilians, criminal sanctions, Irgun and Lehin? two wrongs don't make a right, by the way). This comments, unconsciosuly validates, Uri's position which is well argued and serene.
Gordon's article points out to the bigotry of Zinosim, of the Israeli establishment and of most of the Israeli public when it comes to anarchism or, effectively, to any criticism of its supremacy policy. Funnily enough, instead of taking the chance of replying in a thoughtful way to the article, the comments sent by these characters mainly in Israel and the USA, show in an unequivocal manner the high levels of bigotry and intolerance in that particular society. And bigotry plus militaristic state are the two indispensable ingredients for fascism. This only serves to show how important the anarchist alternative is for the region and why we have to wholeheartedly support both the struggle to free Palestine as well as our comrades in Israel... for one world where there's room for many worlds...
