The 'Occupy X' movement arrived in Ireland over the weekend when a core group of around 50 people set up camp at the Central Bank Plaza on Dame street. Numbers grew to a few hundred at times over the next days and nights as supporters came down to join in for a while and the curious stopped to see what was going on. Issues highlighted by participants included the bank bail out, IMF intervention & the ongoing Great Oil & Gas Giveaway. ... read full story / add a comment
mashriq / arabia / iraq / community struggles / news report Monday October 10, 2011 - 21:10 byIlan S.
The peak of the struggle was the escalation in the settler colonialists' terror in 'Anata, where a mob of local settlers - including personnel of the State forces who live there, attacked Jewish radical activists accompanying Palestinians who tried to access their land. The State forces - police and gendarmes - present stayed presumably "neutral" but threatened activists and even arrested three. As a measure against the settlers' escalating terror, the joint monitoring project of the popular grassroots committees is collecting momentum. The "regular" locations of joint struggle - both within the 1948 borders, mainly the Bedouins of the south, and Jaffa; the weekly joint demonstrations the Anarchists Against the Wall are involved in: Beit Ummar, Bil'in, Nabi Salih, Ni'lin, and Ma'sarah; and Sheikh Jarrah too. Other sporadic locations like at-Tawna were active too. [Italiano] ... read full story / add a comment

The desperation of the settler colonialists resulting from the approaching of the moment of truth and the shattering of their dream of the enlarged Israel, cause mounting of brutal assaults. Latest escalation was in the brutal assault on the Israeli non violent activists in the village Anata near the Settler colonialist settlement Anatot. The escalation was also of the state forces who were present at the confrontation but all they did was arresting three activist on concocted charges. State force personnel living in the settlement who were of duty participated in the assault. The main locations of joint struggles the anarchists against the wall activists are the leading Israelis: Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Nabi-Saleh, and Ma'asara keep the struggle going, and so are the struggles in Sheikh Jarrah, Arakib, Wallaje, and the South of Hebron Hills. Day after day, year after year, the struggle against the Israeli advanced expansion, suppression and pressures on the Palestinians to be transferred out of the region continues all the time. The efforts of persistence - Tsumud in Arabic - continue throughout the years with a scant portion of the members of the Jewish community joining the struggle. Some of them join only specific aspects of the struggles. A very few join the struggle wholeheartedly, without reservation. The struggle against the separation fence initiated by grassroots activists of villages along the route which was joined by the Israeli Anarchists Against the Wall (AAtW) in 2003 has brought the non-violent direct-action mode of struggle into the media focus - thanks to a large extent to the video photographers of the AAtW and the ActiveStills collective. In recent years more and more Israeli radicals have joined us or have initiated their own projects. [Italiano] ... read full story / add a comment

We would like this Meeting to be a laboratory of reflection and common work around the following fundamental questions: migration and the free circulation of people and knowledges, precariousness, the question of debt and social services, free and accessible education for all, the construction of autonomous media and networks, the reappropriation of urban spaces, the mechanisms and the forms of social mobilization and the experimentation of new forms of organization and collective intelligence.
We propose a 4-day Meeting in Tunisia in September 2011, and invite all collectives, groups, individuals and activists who adhere to this call and who wish to construct a transnational network of struggle. ... read full story / add a comment

Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle interwoven with the expectation for the UN show down
Though Israel is in panic, and many Palestinians are with mixed feelings - the joint struggle against the separation fence, occupation, and the suppression of the Israeli Palestinian continue. The struggle against the new wave of attack on the Bedouins - both within Israel and the occupied west bank continue. So is the struggle against the terror of the colonialist settlers against the Palestinian neighbors. And of course the struggle against the separation fence already built and in building. Special focus is in fierce struggle in occupied east Jerusalem - mainly Silwan and Sheikh Jarah. The main locations are: Arakib, Beit Ummar, Bil'in, Kufur Qaddom, Ma’sara, Nabi Saleh, Sheikh Jarah, Silwan, Social Struggle, South of Hebron Hills. The social struggle against the neo-liberalism continue in the various locations in both Jewish and Palestinian communities. [Italiano] ... read full story / add a comment

Historian Mairtin O Cathain’s ‘Wee Black Booke’ has now been added to our archive for you to read or download. In it he pulls together reports of anarchism in and around Belfast in the years from 1867 to 1973. With no local movement for much of this period, the pamphlet looks at some individuals whose political activity merited mention in the media of the time. O Cathain’s work stops before the emergence in the late 1970s of the groups from which contemporary anarchist organisations Workers Solidarity Movement and Organise! can trace their roots.

The Fine Gael party was confronted with angry scenes at not one but two different blockades during a meeting of the parliamentary party in Galway city yesterday. Taoiseach Enda Kenny and his cabinet were attending their pre-budget think-in at the luxury Radisson hotel when some 30 students from the NUIG Free Education for Everyone (FEE) group and the Students’ Union blockaded the entrance in protest at the government’s policy of education cuts, registration fee increases and the ever-looming prospect of full fees. They were joined by two dozen members of the Save Roscommon Hospital Alliance who were equally intent on showing the Fine Gael party what they think of their callous indifference to the welfare of the working class. ... read full story / add a comment

Beginning on Sunday 28 August, Wits students have been littering parts of campus in solidarity with the cleaners’ strike. Cleaners throughout South Africa are demanding a living wage of R4 200 per month: this compares with less than R2 000 paid to cleaners at Wits, who are employed by outsourcing companies such as Supercare. The strike has been undermined, at Wits and elsewhere, by the presence of scab labour; Wits management and the outsourcing companies are striving for “business as usual”. This undermines the entire purpose of the strike, which is to compel exploiter-managers to meet workers’ demands by withdrawing their labour, by preventing the job from getting done – by making sure the campus is not clean. ... read full story / add a comment

Palestine-Israel, The involvement of activists in the Israeli uprising was in parallel to the joint struggle ---- The Israeli uprising included also the Israeli Palestinian citizens. Within the social justice struggle, the anarchist against the wall were involved mainly in the Lewinski tent camp that included the African refugees and in the Jaffa Jewish-Palestinian tent camp. We continued - though with smaller numbers in the regular joint struggle with the occupied west bank villagers in Beit Ommar, Bil'in, Qaddom, Ma'asara, Nabi Saleh, Ni'ilin, South of Hebron hills, Wallaje. Both in Israel and the occupied regions the vibrations of the nearing 20th September UN declaration of the Palestinian state was in the air. [Italiano] ... read full story / add a comment

The joint struggle in the occupied West Bank continues to the background of the widespread social justice struggle in Israel. The "Olive Revolution" was expressed mainly in Friday's demonstration in Qalandiya. The Anarchists Against the Wall and village activists of Ni'lin, Bil'in and Nabi Salih converged in Qalandiya instead of the usual local actions. In spite of this, the Bil'in Friday demo was not canceled. The other struggles in South of Hebron Hills and the Saturday actions in Walaja and Beit Ummar were not missed either. The ferment and struggle against the settler project in eastern Jerusalem, occupied Silwan, continues too. The struggle for social justice in Israel also includes the Palestinian citizens of both the "mixed" towns and the Palestinian ones. [Italiano] ... read full story / add a comment

The people of the region are starting to hold their breath looking forward for the middle of September reshuffle. Meanwhile, the usual locations of joint struggle: Beit Umar, Bil'in, Jerusalem-Al-Kuds, Silwan, Ma'asara, Nabi Saleh, Ni'ilin, South of Hebron Hills, and the inter Israeli social justice struggles continue. Though the main trend of the struggle against neo-liberalism austerity do not refer to the occupied Palestinian regions and Gaza, it does include the Israeli Palestinians which suffer in addition to neo-liberalism the suppression and discrimination and still advancing robbery of their lands. In spite of suspected inflammation in military clashes related to Gaza the social justice struggle continue - including a many thousands strong silent demonstration in Tel Aviv (5000 to 30000 according to various sources - my count was: "one, two, three, many").
