From 6th - 8th July 2005, the G8 will attempt to hold their annual summit at the luxurious Gleneagles resort in Scotland. As with every recent meeting of the rich and powerful, thousands of people will take to the streets in resistance. Among them will be anarchist communists involved with Anarkismo.net.
Here we are carrying eyewitness reports from the protests, photos and audio interviews. We also provide a number of background articles on the G8, neoliberalism and the summit protests. Please add you own reports and comments

The Republic of Ireland has one of the most draconian abortion laws in the world. At present abortion may only be performed where continuation of pregnancy poses a 'real and substantial' risk to a pregnant woman's life - about 5 cases per year of 50,000 pregnancies
The ban on abortion and continued attempts to make all access virtually impossible, approximately 7000 Irish women every year exercise their right to choose abortion and travel to England to access legal abortion there, largely through charities providing abortion services and private clinics. Photo is from an anti-abortion march at the time of the 'X-case' in the early 1990's

James Connolly is probably the single most important figure in the history of the Irish left. He was an organiser in the IWW in the USA but in Ireland is best known for his role in building the syndicalist phase of Irish union movement and for involving the armed defence body of that union, the Irish Citizens' Army in the 1916 nationalist insurrection. This left a legacy claimed at one time or another not only by all the Irish left parties but also by the nationalists of Fianna Fail and Sinn Fein.
A system of society in which the workshops, factories, docks, railways, shipyards, &c., shall be owned by the nation, but administered by the Industrial Unions of the respective industries, organised as above, seems best calculated to secure the highest form of industrial efficiency, combined with the greatest amount of individual freedom from state despotism. Such a system would, we believe, realise for Ireland the most radiant hopes of all her heroes and martyrs.

Revolution! seeks to be a starting point for libertarian communist organisation in Southampton and beyond. We reject the idea of a party of professional revolutionaries, or a party in which a small and highly committed elite dominate the discussion and direction of the organisation. This first issue seeks to draw together those who would consider themselves libertarian communists or anarcho-communists and who agree with the ‘basic ideas’. If you are looking for something different from what’s on offer already and fancy the idea of starting something new, then please get in contact and let’s form the basis of a future organisation capable of influencing the struggle.

The MayDay weekend of 2004 in Dublin saw an European Umion summit in Dublin, Ireland. A libertarian network called the the Dublin Grassroots Network succesfully organised four days of protests and actions over the weekend. The Workers Solidarity Movement whose members were involved in the DGN published five articles over the following year in its publication Red and Black Revolution that looked at the organisation of these protests in great detail and analyised the consequences.
