A look at the ongoing convoy protest in parliament grounds in Wellington, New Zealand/Aotearoa.

They call it Freedom Convoy 2022.

They claim it’s all about freedom.

A mishmash of groups who are fighting for contradictory “freedoms” have been camped in and around the New Zealand Parliament in Wellington since February 6th.

They range from Maori nationalists to New Age conspiracy theorists, white supremacists to religious fundamentalists, and other fringe groups including the extreme right sovereign citizen movement. Their flags flutter everywhere. Their banners, which peddle pseudo-science and conspiracy ‘theories’, litter the grounds of Parliament and decorate many of the vehicles that are blocking key roads around it. Inflammatory rhetoric, including calls to kill leading politicians and journalists, is being broadcast online and repeated in banners and posters. Their vitriol is clear for anyone who is walking past Parliament. Yet, because there is a variety of motivations for involvement, some are not aligned with dodgy groups and many of the protesters are counter-culture and anti-Establishment types who are upset about vaccination mandates, some Anarchists and others on the Left have decided to support the protesters.

Those Lefties are misguided.

Just because some protesters are dancing to Bob Marley and smoking joints doesn’t make their involvement defensible. It doesn’t mean we give the whole thing our endorsement. It doesn’t make the conspiracies any more acceptable. The anti-Semitic claptrap about the Rothschilds bankrolling the mainstream media, Bill Gates and Jacinda Ardern being part of a plot to use the Covid-19 vaccination programme to microchip the world’s population and that the pandemic was planned by “the deep state” or similar bogeyman lurking in the background.

Let’s not forget we are in the midst of a pandemic that has killed over 5.877 million people worldwide. It has crippled health systems around the world as they’ve been overwhelmed with patients. Normally, I would be the first to protest against the imposition of any laws that curtail our freedoms to move about and to gather with others, including comrades, family and friends. However, this is one exceptional time when we probably need to accept the necessity of such restrictions, with caveats. As long as the restrictions are proven by relevantly qualified scientific experts to be essential and are restricted to as short a time as necessary, so that the Covid-19 virus can be combated and its spread curtailed as much as is practical.

This does not mean we should simply accept whatever the powers-that-be are saying. Our point of view should be rooted in the implication of the science, not influenced by the additional agenda of the state. We must do everything in our power to make sure that they do not use the Covid-19 pandemic as an excuse to broadly crack down on civil liberties and human rights, as has happened in countries like Brazil, China and Hungary. On this point the anti-vaccination protesters do have a valid point. There should be some indication as to when the mandates could be lifted that can be measured, such as the number of cases coming down to less than ten a day for a month. We must retain our critical independence.

There is also the thorny question of how to address the many tangata whenua/indigenous people of the land who have joined the ranks of the protesters. Should we be supporting them? On this occasion the answer is a blunt no.

Local iwi/tribes have condemned the protests and the use of Maori sovereignty flags by the protesters. The key reason is because of the number of Maori who have died in past pandemics because they weren’t vaccinated and because Maori soldiers who fought overseas in the Second World War were vaccinated. To oppose vaccinations is seen as dishonouring those ancestors. (Wellington’s Tangata Whenua want protesters to leave, Stuff, February 17th, 2022.) In response, many of the Maori protesters have condemned these leaders – and Maori who oppose them – as traitors, especially on Twitter.

When it comes to addressing how to deal with Covid-19 we must let the science and facts do the talking. Those facts include:

1. The Pfizer vaccine, along with other Covid-19 vaccines, were developed from existing SARS vaccines because Covid-19 is a variant of the SARS virus. (It’s officially called the severe respiratory syndrome coronations 2 or SARS-CoV-2.) It’s not an experimental medicine or vaccination in which we’re all unwilling guinea pigs.

2. As of January 31st, 2022, a total of 9,461,496 vaccinations were administered in New Zealand. 49,412 resulted in non-serious side effects and 2,460 resulted in serious side effects. That’s 0.54% of doses that resulted in any side effects. (Source: Medsafe.)

3. Comparing New Zealand’s death rates on a per capita basis our Covid-19 current death rate is the lowest in the OECD and in actual numbers. This is due almost entirely to the lockdowns and severe restrictions on entering and leaving this country.

4. There are no 100% guarantees that a person won’t get Covid-19 if they are fully vaccinated. I personally have a friend who got Covid-19 despite being double vaccinated. However, this does not mean people shouldn’t get vaccinated because it does protect over 95% of those who get the Pfizer vaccination from getting Covid-19. 5. Homeopathy, alternative or traditional “medicines” and various super foods will not prevent anyone from getting Covid-19. Just because something isn’t manufactured by Big Pharma it doesn’t make it safe.

Looking at the class composition of the protest, there is no doubt a range of people involved. Regardless of who is involved, those who are unemployed have lost their jobs because they have refused to take a vaccine that is free, widely available, has been around a while, has caused limited severe reactions, has been thoroughly tested and which will keep them out of hospital. It’s not mandatory to get the vaccination. However, as with all things, not getting vaccinated carries consequences.

It’s also not just about them. They often talk about herd immunity to validate their arguments. Herd immunity is not about protecting selfish people who refuse to get vaccinated. In part its about protecting those who can’t get vaccinated for genuine medical reasons, such as cancer patients with compromised immune systems and people with diseases like Hashimoto Disease that compromise their immune system.

You can sometimes do good things for poor reasons. Perhaps some people have become vaccinated out of fear of the government. Though I doubt there are many real people like that. I think and hope the best among us who have been fully vaccinated and got our boosters aren’t doing it because of government instructions or mandates. We did it because the science stands up and we actually give a damn about our communities, our comrades and our families and friends. We’re vaccinated to protect others, not just ourselves. Not all the participants of the protest are anti-vaxx. There are some who are double vaxxed but oppose the mandates. To them I’d say a better approach than joining the convoy would be to convince their unvaccinated friends to get vaccinated and thus take the teeth out of the mandates. This convoy protest highlights a clash between ideologies that are solipsistic and selfish and those with a sense of fundamental social, collective responsibility.

And that is the problem with the protests outside Parliament.

When Anarchists march to Parliament it is because we are advocating for a greater cause than ourselves. We join a hikoi because we want to see change aimed at improving (or radically changing) society for the betterment of working people. We march because we oppose wars of neo-colonialism and imperialism. We march because we are appalled by various “isms”, such as racism and sexism, that have blighted the world.

What we don’t engage in a hikoi for, is the “freedom” to do whatever the hell you want, to peddle conspiracies largely devoid of any proven facts and to ignore and undermine science.

Just because some of those protesters are listening to Bob Marley while smoking weed or belong to the working classes it doesn’t make them harmless. The fact they’re willing to stand side by side with racist and religious bigots peddling harmful conspiracies, means these people have made poor choices. Tailing uncritically behind such participants is not the answer. The wero/challenge this situation throws down for us is to offer better alternatives rooted in science, logic and true transnational solidarity. It is a perspective that should also not just silently fall in with the government but challenges the state from a principled view where we can on this issue. It is one that simultaneously continues to challenge the government on other issues such as rising food, fuel and rent prices etc and other harmful aspects of the capitalist system the state props up. The people in the protest are not idiots, they’ve made bad choices and its partly because we haven’t done a good enough job of suggesting something better. Rather than join the current protest, we should be putting our efforts into that. Anarchists should oppose the protest, oppose the government and build better social and economic alternatives to either.

Освен това значително ограничи способността ни да организираме ефективни политически протести и укрепи контрола на държавата.

Тя подчерта основните проблеми на глобалния капитализъм и неговата нужда от постоянен растеж и печалба. Подкрепата на държавата за тези цели е в основата на възникването, разпространението и трагичните последици от болестта. Необходимостта от революция никога не е била толкова очевидна.

Въпреки това, докато се опитваме да се съпротивляваме, слабостите на движението на работническата класа също бяха разкрити. Виждаме нарастващ брой смъртни случаи, претоварени здравни услуги, третиране на ключови работници като заменими и как икономическите разходи са поети от онези, които са най-малко способни да си го позволят, но съпротивата беше незначителна. Независимо от това, пандемията също доведе до действия и чувствителност, които са ключови за социалната трансформация: солидарност, взаимопомощ, самоорганизация и интернационализъм.

Отговор на шефовете и държавата

Въпреки че някои страни следваха стратегия за нулеви стойности на Ковида, повечето се стремяха по-скоро към смекчаване, отколкото към потискане. Причината за това до голяма степен беше, че те искаха да запазят икономиката колкото се може повече, поставяйки печалбите пред здравето на хората. Резултатът от това е, че пандемията продължава много по-дълго от нужното. Ключови работници, които вече са едни от най-ниско платените, бяха свръхксплоатирани, поемайки тежестта на кризата. Липсата на добре финансирани здравни системи причини безброй смъртни случаи, а много работници бяха принудени да работят поради неадекватното заплащане на болничните. Междувременно много компании умножиха печалбите си и наблюдаваме увеличение на разделението между богати и бедни.

За някои правителства ваксината беше основната част от стратегията им за победа над Ковид. Въпреки че ваксината е ключова част от борбата с Ковид, основните мерки за обществено здраве също са жизненоважни. Но правителствата предпочетоха да разчитат на ваксината, защото тя осигурява огромни печалби за фармацевтичните компании и премахването на всички мерки за обществено здравеопазване кара хората да продължават да работят и да консумират.

Въвеждането на ваксините също показа глобално неравенство. Повечето от ваксините отидоха в по-богатите страни, които могат да си позволят да плащат. Призивите за отказ от патентни права, за да могат да се произвеждат повече ваксини, останаха нечути, което показва, че печалбите на фармацевтичните компании са по-важни за правителствата. Принципът е всяка страна сама за себе си в комбинация с вяла международна координация или солидарност.

Отговорът на организирания анархизъм

Нашите организации участваха в различни борби: за безопасни работни места и образователни заведения, за взаимопомощ и солидарност в общността и противопоставяне на атаките срещу работниците, докато работодателите и правителствата се стремяха да си върнат парите, които трябваше да похарчат.

Локдауните бяха труден момент за нас, тъй като обичайната ни политическа дейност не беше възможна. Въпреки това ние не се присъединихме към движението срещу локдауните. Организираните анархисти вярват в самоорганизацията. Ние не спазваме правила, защото правителството казва, че трябва, ние следваме правила, които сами сме разработили колективно. Именно това е в основата на проблема с локдауните; правила са наложени на хората без усещането, че те произтичат от самите хора.

Те не идват от опита на хората в общността и на работното място, а са разработени с други цели. Това доведе до объркващи и противоречиви послания и създаде обща бъркотия, водеща до масово игнориране на насоките за безопасност, независимо дали от хора, фирми или други институции.

Нашите идеи се основават на основните принципи на организирания анархизъм – на самоорганизация, солидарност и взаимопомощ. Не е нужно правителството да ни казва какво да правим, нито трябва да противоречим на собствения си здрав разум, само защото правителството иска да поддържа икономиката. Разбира се, за хората е трудно да правят това, което е най-добре, когато са в несигурна позиция на работното място. Ето защо класовата организация и борба са жизненоважен елемент на всяка стратегия.

Създаване на революционно движение

Организираните анархисти вярват, че без напълно ново общество – общество без капитализъм, държава и йерархии – човечеството може и да не оцелее. Първо, тази пандемия няма да бъде еднократна. Други чакат да се случат предвид експлоататорските отношения, които хората имат с животните и природния свят. Капитализмът извади на повърхността основните потенциални опасности. Изменението на климата и катастрофалната загуба на биоразнообразие и местообитания подкопават самото присъствие на хората на Земята. Капитализмът и икономиката на растежа отново ускориха този процес, като ограбиха земята от всички налични ресурси. Човек би си помислил, а мнозина го направиха в началото, че преживяването на пандемията ще вдъхнови нов начин на живот – с повече взаимопомощ и солидарност и уважение към околната среда. Но този оптимизъм беше загубен много бързо – скоро се върнахме към бизнеса, а както обикновено правителствата искат да накарат всички да харчим отново. Насърчаването на въздушния транспорт е отличен пример за пълното пренебрегване на изменението на климата. Експлоатацията на изкопаеми горива, дърводобивът и обезлесяването продължават през цялата пандемия. В отчаянието си да възстановим печалбите за бизнеса, изменението на климата ще остане на заден план за известно време.

През следващите години хората ще се съсредоточат до голяма степен върху справянето с атаките, идващи от правителството и работодателите, тъй като последните се стремят да накарат работническата класа да плати разходите за Covid. Голяма част от времето ни ще бъде прекарано в тези икономически битки. Трябва да се уверим, че работническата класа е обединена, за да можем да се подкрепяме взаимно и да се уверим, че онези в най-лоша ситуация са напълно подкрепени. Нуждаем се от солидарност и взаимопомощ, а не всеки да се бори в собствения си ъгъл на дадено работно място, синдикат или социална група в неравностойно положение. Цялата същност на труда трябва да бъде поставена под въпрос. Това стана очевидно по време на пандемията, когато ясно видяхме коя работа всъщност е важна. Това е много трудно да се направи, защото хората разбираемо не искат да се откажат от работата си – дори ако тези работни места са отчуждаващи и вредни за тях и останалата част от планетата.

Независимо от това, една по-широка перспектива е от съществено значение – тъй като необходимите промени са огромни и взаимозависими. Причините да има проблеми на определено място са поради решения, взети в корпоративни заседателни зали, или са резултат от пазарните сили, които осигуряват печалби, тъй като това е основен критерий.

Въпреки че климатичните промени също са глобален проблем, пандемията беше много по-непосредствена и лична. Хората не можеха да не осъзнаят факта, че сме взаимосвързани.. Това означава, че има потенциал за развитие на повече международно фокусирани движения. Лозунгът „не сме в безопасност, докато всички не са в безопасност” се превърна в част от мисленето на мнозина. Бъдещето зависи от това до каква степен можем да надградим положителните аспекти на реакциите на грасруутс движенията и да създадем движение, което надхвърля непосредствените притеснения и изисквания и се превръща в такова, което ще ни доведе до фундаментален разрив с капитализма и до анархистко общество.

Covid-19 pandemisi insan yaşamının her alanını etkiledi ve insanların fiziksel ve mental sağlığı, sosyal ilişkileri ve toplulukları, geçim koşullarımız ve hareket etme özgürlüğümüz üzerinde yıkıcı etkileri oldu. Ayrıca etkili siyasi eylemler örgütleme kabiliyetimizi önemli ölçüde kısıtlayarak devletin elini güçlendirdi.

Küresel kapitalizmin sürekli büyüme ve kâr ihtiyacı ve temel sorunları daha da görünür oldu. Devletin küresel kapitalizme ve onun ihtiyaçlarına verdiği destek; hastalığın ortaya çıkışının, yayılmasının ve trajik sonuçlarının nedeni olmuştur. Devrim ihtiyacı hiç bu kadar belirgin olmamıştı.

Ancak biz tüm bunlara direnmek için mücadele ederken, işçi sınıfı hareketinin zayıflıkları da ortaya çıktı. Ölü sayısının sürekli arttığını, sağlık hizmetlerinin yetersizliğini, esas işçilere gözden çıkarılabilir olarak muamele edildiğini ve imkanı olmayanlara fatura edilen ekonomik maliyetleri gördük fakat direniş olması gerekenin altındaydı. Bununla birlikte pandemi, toplumsal dönüşümün anahtarı olan duygu ve eylemleri de ortaya çıkardı: dayanışma, karşılıklı yardımlaşma, öz-örgütlenme ve enternasyonalizm.

Son birkaç on yılda ortaya çıkan Covid-19 ve diğer zoonotik hastalıklar, küresel kapitalizmin yayılmasından kaynaklanmaktadır. Kapitalizm kerestecilik, madencilik ve tarım ticareti için giderek daha fazla araziyi işgal ettikçe, vahşi hayvanlar yaşam alanlarını kaybediyor ve insanlarla temasa geçerek, hastalıkların diğer türlerden insanlara “yayılma” potansiyeli ortaya çıkıyor. Bu durum, dünya çapında büyüyen orta ve üst sınıfların egzotik hayvan etine olan talebiyle daha da kötüleşiyor.

Devletin ve Patronların Tepkisi

Bazı devletler sıfır Covid stratejisi uygulasa da çoğunluk hastalığı önlemek yerine hafifleterek sürdürmeyi hedefledi. Bunun esas nedeni, kârı halk sağlığının önüne koyarak ekonomiyi mümkün olduğunca devam ettirmek istemeleriydi. Bunun sonucu ise pandeminin gereğinden uzun sürmesi oldu. Zaten asgari ücretle çalışanlardan oluşan işçiler, daha fazla sömürülerek krizin yükünü çektiler. İyi finanse edilen sağlık hizmeti sistemlerinin olmaması sayısız ölüme neden oldu ve yetersiz ücret yüzünden bir sürü işçi çalışmaya zorlandı. Bu arada, birçok şirket kârlarını artırdı ve zengin ve fakir arasındaki uçurum arttı.

Bazı devletler için aşı, Covid ile mücadele stratejisinin ana unsuruydu. Aşı Covid ile mücadelenin önemli bir parçası olsa da asıl önemli olan temel halk sağlığı önlemleridir. Fakat devletler ilaç şirketlerine devasa kâr sağladığı için aşıya bel bağlamayı tercih ettiler. Bu sayede tüm halk sağlığı önlemlerini kaldırarak insanların çalışmaya ve tüketmeye devam etmesini sağladılar.

Aşının piyasaya sürülmesiyle birlikte küresel eşitsizlik de gözler önüne serildi. Aşıların çoğu, ödeme gücü olan daha zengin ülkelere gitti. Daha fazla aşı üretilebilmesi için patent haklarından feragat etme çağrıları kulak ardı edildi çünkü ilaç şirketlerinin kârları devletler için daha önemliydi. Uluslararası bir işbirliği veya dayanışma örgütlemek yerine her halk kendi kaderine terk edildi.

Örgütlü Anarşizmin Tepkisi

Örgütlerimiz; patronlar ve devletler harcadıkları parayı geri almak için uğraşırken güvenli iş yerleri ve eğitim kuruluşları için, toplumda karşılıklı yardımlaşma ve dayanışmayı sağlamak ve işçilere yönelik saldırılara direnmek için mücadele etti.

Her zamanki hareketliliğimizi engellediği için karantina bizim için zor bir zamandı. Yine de anti-karantina hareketine katılmadık. Örgütlü anarşistler öz örgütlenmeye inanır. Devletin uymak zorunda olduğumuzu söylediği kurallara değil, kolektif olarak geliştirdiğimiz kendi kurallarımıza uyarız. Karantinayla ilgili sorunun temeli budur; halkla ilgili olmayan kurallar halka dayatılmıştır.

Bu kurallar halkın kendi deneyimleri yerine devletin ve patronların farklı gereksinimleri referans alınarak geliştirildi. Bu da büyük bir kafa karışıklığına ve çelişkili mesajlara neden olarak genel bir karışıklık yarattı. Böylece ne insanlar ne iş yerleri ne de diğer kurumlar bu yönergeleri uygulamadı.

Bizim fikirlerimiz örgütlü anarşizmin öz örgütlenme, dayanışma ve karşılıklı yardımlaşma ilkelerine dayanır. Devletin bize ne yapacağımızı söylemesine ihtiyacımız yok, ya da devlet sömürüyü devam ettirmek istiyor diye kendi sağduyumuza karşı gelmeyeceğiz. Elbette riskli işlerde çalışırken insanların doğru olanı yapması zordur. Bu yüzden herhangi bir strateji için sınıf mücadelesi ve örgütlenme hayati bir unsurdur.

Devrimci Bir Hareket Yaratmak

Örgütlü anarşistler kapitalizmin, devletin ve hiyerarşilerin olmadığı tamamıyla yeni bir toplum olmadan insanlığın sadece hayatta kalabilmek için mücadele edebileceğine inanır. Öncelikle bu pandemi tek seferlik değil. İnsanlar, diğer türlerle ve doğayla kurduğu sömürücü ilişkileri devam ettirdiği sürece başkaları da tekrar edecektir. Kapitalizmin altında yatan potansiyel tehlikeler gün yüzüne çıkmıştır. Biyoçeşitliliğin azalması, yaşam alanlarının ve doğanın tahrip edilmesi ve iklim değişikliği, insanların dünyadaki varlığının altını oymuştur. Kapitalizm ve onun büyüme ekonomisi dünyanın tüm mevcut kaynaklarını yağmalayarak bu süreci hızlandırmıştır. Başlangıçta biz de birçok kişi gibi, pandemi deneyiminin doğaya saygı ve daha çok karşılıklı yardımlaşma ve dayanışmaya dayanan yeni bir yaşam şeklini uyandıracağını düşündük. Fakat bu iyimserlik çabucak kaybedildi; insanların tüketime ara vermeden devam etmesini hedefleyen devletlerin saldırılarıyla yeniden çalışmaya ve üretmeye zorlandık. Hava yoluyla seyahatin desteklenmesi iklim değişikliğinin tamamen göz ardı edildiğinin en önemli örneğidir. Fosil yakıt kullanımı, kerestecilik ve ormansızlaşma pandemi boyunca devam etti. Kâr elde etmeyi sürdürmek pahasına her şey göze alındığı için iklim değişikliği bir süre daha geri planda kalacak.

Önümüzdeki süreçte halk çoğunlukla Covid’in bedelini işçi sınıfına ödetmek isteyen patronların ve kapitalizmin saldırılarına karşı koymaya odaklanacak. Zamanımızın çoğunu bu ekonomik savaşlar için harcayacağız. Birbirimize destek olabilmek için işçi sınıfının birlik olması ve en kötü durumda olanların iyice desteklenmesi için mücadele etmeliyiz. Dezavantajlı toplumsal gruplarda, sendikalarda veya iş yerlerinde herkesin kendi köşesinde sadece kendisi için mücadele etmesindense karşılıklı yardımlaşma ve dayanışmaya ihtiyacımız var. Çalışmanın tüm doğası sorgulanmalı. Hangi işin gerçekten önemli olduğunu açıkça görebildiğimiz pandemi süresince bu belirginleşti. Bunu yapmak çok zor çünkü insanlar, işleri gezegene ve kendilerine zararlı olup yabancılaşmalarına neden olsa bile -anlaşılır bir şekilde- işlerini bırakmak istemiyor.

Tarihsel görevimiz devrim ihtiyacını yükseltmeye devam etmektir. Sadece karşı karşıya olduğumuz acil sorunları önlemeye odaklanarak birkaç kırıntı elde etmeyi hedefleyemeyiz. Tüm sisteme meydan okumak zorundayız. Her stratejinin temeli, en küçük parçayı göz önüne alarak belirlense de enternasyonal bir perspektife de sahip olmalıyız. İnsanların yaşamlarını ev, komşular, topluluk ve yeşil alanlar gibi yakın çevreyle sınırlamaya zorlayan pandemi deneyiminden ders çıkarabiliriz. Çok daha büyük değişimleri yaratan hareketlerin başladığı yer, kendi başımıza deneyimleyebileceğimiz küçük şeylerin çok yakınındadır.

Bununla birlikte, ihtiyaç duyulan değişiklikler hem çok büyük hem de birbirine bağlı olduğundan daha geniş bir perspektif de çok önemlidir. Her sorunun temel nedeni, devletin kapalı kurumlarında alınan kararlar ve sadece kârla beslenen sermaye güçlerinin ihtiyaçlarıdır.

A pandemia da COVID-19 tem afetado todos os aspectos da vida humana. Tem tido um efeito devastador sobre a saúde física e mental das pessoas, sobre as relações sociais e sobre as comunidades, sobre nossos meios de subsistência e liberdade de movimento. Também reduziu significativamente nossa capacidade de organizar protestos políticos efetivos e fortaleceu o Estado.

La pandémie de COVID-19 a affecté tous les aspects de la vie humaine. Elle a eu un effet dévastateur sur la santé physique et mentale des personnes, sur les relations sociales et les communautés, sur nos moyens de subsistance et notre liberté de mouvement. Elle a également réduit de manière significative notre capacité à organiser une protestation politique efficace et a renforcé l’État.

La situation a mis en évidence les problèmes fondamentaux du capitalisme et son besoin de croissance et de profits continus. Le soutien de l’État à ces objectifs a été à l’origine de la propagation et des conséquences tragiques de la maladie. La nécessité d’une révolution n’a jamais été aussi évidente. Cependant, alors que nous luttons pour nous défendre, les faiblesses du mouvement syndical ont également été révélées. Nous avons vu un nombre croissant de décès, des services de santé débordés, des travailleur-euse-s essentiels traité-e-s comme jetables et des coûts économiques supportés par ceux qui sont les moins capables de payer, et pourtant la résistance a été négligeable. Pourtant, la pandémie a également généré des actions et des sensibilités clés pour la transformation sociale : solidarité, entraide, auto-organisation et internationalisme.

Les coronavirus et les autres maladies biologiques apparues au cours des dernières décennies sont dus à l’expansion du capitalisme mondial. À mesure que le capitalisme accapare de plus en plus de terres pour l’exploitation forestière, minière et agroalimentaire, les animaux sauvages perdent leurs habitats et entrent en contact avec les humains, ce qui crée un risque de propagation de maladies d’autres espèces aux humains. Cette situation est exacerbée par la demande de viande d’animaux exotiques par les classes moyennes et supérieures en pleine expansion dans le monde. Réponse des employeurs et de l’État

Bien que certains pays aient suivi une stratégie « zéro covid », la plupart ont opté pour l’atténuation plutôt que l’élimination. C’est en grande partie parce qu’ils voulaient maintenir l’économie aussi longtemps que possible, en faisant passer les profits avant la santé des gens. Le résultat est que la pandémie a duré beaucoup plus longtemps que nécessaire. Les travailleuses et travailleurs considéré-e-s comme essentielles, qui était déjà parmi les plus mal payés, ont été surexploité alors qu’iels subissaientt le plus gros de la crise. L’absence de systèmes de soins de santé bien financés a causé d’innombrables décès et de nombreux-ses travailleuses et travailleurs ont été contraints de continuer leur activité en raison de l’insuffisance des indemnités de maladie. Pour certains gouvernements, la vaccination a été l’élément principal de la stratégie permettant de vaincre le Covid. Si le vaccin est un élément clé de la lutte contre le Covid, les mesures de santé publique de base sont également essentielles. Cependant, les gouvernements n’ont envisagé aucune mesure structurelle (comme le renforcement des soins de santé ou des transports, par exemple), se limitant presque exclusivement à la stratégie de vaccination qui à l’avantage de procurer d’énormes profits aux entreprises pharmaceutiques et d’éliminer peu à peu toutes les mesures de santé publique pour permettre aux gens de continuer à travailler et à consommer.

Le lancement du vaccin a également mis en lumière les inégalités mondiales. La plupart des vaccins ont été expédiés vers les pays les plus riches qui peuvent se les offrir. Les appels à renoncer aux droits de brevet afin que davantage de vaccins puissent être produits sont tombés dans l’oreille d’un sourd, ce qui prouve que pour les gouvernements, les profits des sociétés pharmaceutiques sont plus importants. Chaque pays a suivi sa propre voie avec peu de coordination ou de solidarité internationale.

La réponse de l’anarchisme organisé

Nos organisations ont participé à diverses luttes : Pour des lieux de travail et des établissements d’enseignement sûrs, pour l’entraide et la solidarité et pour résister aux attaques contre les travailleurs alors que les employeurs et les gouvernements cherchent à récupérer l’argent qu’ils ont dû dépenser.

Le confinement a été une période difficile pour nous car notre activité politique habituelle n’était pas possible. Cependant, nous n’avons pas rejoint le mouvement anti-confinement. Nous croyons en en l’auto-organisation. L’imposition autoritaire de mesures de confinement sanitaire par les gouvernements s’avère parfois inefficace. La mise en œuvre de ces mesures par des canaux partagés et participatifs dans tous les aspects aurait pu obtenir une plus grande acceptation et donc une plus grande efficacité. Les mesures n’ont pas prisent en compte nos expériences et les nos vécues, que ce soit dans nos quartiers ou sur nos lieux de travail, mais ont étés élaborées en fonction d’autres agendas. Cela a donné lieu à des messages confus et contradictoires et a créé un désarroi général, ce qui fait que les directives sont largement ignorées, que ce soit par les individus, les lieux de travail ou d’autres institutions.

Nos idées sont basées sur les principes de base de l’anarchisme organisé que sont l’auto-organisation, la solidarité et l’entraide. Nous n’avons pas besoin que le gouvernement nous dise quoi faire, ni d’aller à l’encontre de notre bon sens simplement parce que le gouvernement veut maintenir l’économie. Bien sûr, il est difficile de faire ce qui est le mieux lorsque nous sommes dans des conditions de travail précaires. C’est pourquoi l’organisation et la lutte de classe sont un élément vital de toute stratégie.

Créer un mouvement révolutionnaire

L’anarchisme organisé croit que, sans une société complètement nouvelle, une société sans capitalisme, sans État et sans hiérarchies, l’humanité luttera pour survivre. Tout d’abord, cette pandémie ne sera pas la seule. D’autres suivront, étant donné la relation d’exploitation de l’humanité avec les animaux et le monde naturel. Le capitalisme a fait remonter à la surface les dangers potentiels sous-jacents. Le changement climatique et la perte désastreuse de la biodiversité et des habitats compromettent la présence même des êtres humains sur terre. Une fois encore, le capitalisme et l’économie de croissance ont accéléré ce processus en pillant la terre de toutes les ressources disponibles. On a pensé, et beaucoup l’ont fait au début, que l’expérience de la pandémie inspirerait un nouveau mode de vie, avec plus d’entraide, de solidarité et de respect de l’environnement. Mais cet optimisme a été perdu très rapidement. Nous sommes vite revenus à la « normalité » avec des gouvernements désireux de faire consommer les gens à nouveau. La promotion des voyages aériens est un exemple parfait du mépris total pour le changement climatique. L’exploitation des combustibles fossiles, l’abattage et la déforestation se sont poursuivis tout au long de la pandémie. Dans l’espoir de maintenir les profits des entreprises, le changement climatique sera relégué au second plan pendant un certain temps encore.

Dans la période à venir, les gens se concentreront principalement sur la résistance aux attaques du gouvernement et des patrons qui cherchent à faire payer à la classe ouvrière le coût du Covid. Une grande partie de notre temps sera consacrée à ces batailles économiques. Nous devons nous assurer que la classe ouvrière est unie afin que nous puissions nous soutenir mutuellement et faire en sorte que les personnes les plus opprimées soient pleinement soutenues. Nous avons besoin de solidarité et d’aide mutuelle plutôt que de voir chacun se battre seul dans un lieu de travail, un syndicat ou un groupe social opprimé.

Notre tâche historique est de continuer à soulever la nécessité de la révolution. Nous ne pouvons pas continuer à nous concentrer uniquement sur les problèmes immédiats auxquels nous sommes confrontés, en cherchant simplement à éviter le pire des attaques et à réclamer quelques miettes. Nous devons remettre en question l’ensemble du système. Nos stratégies se dévellopent d’abord dans des lieux précis –nos quartiers ou nos lieux de travail par exemple- mais elle doit être fermement ancrée dans une perspective internationale. Nous pouvons tirer des enseignements de notre expérience de la pandémie, qui a contraint de nombreuses personnes à restreindre leur vie à leur environnement immédiat : leur maison, leurs voisins, leur quartier et leurs espaces verts. C’est dans un lieu spécifique, autour de questions dont nous pouvons faire l’expérience par nous-mêmes, que se créent les mouvements pour un changement beaucoup plus important.

Toutefois, il est essentiel d’adopter une perspective plus large, car les changements nécessaires sont énormes et interdépendants. Les raisons pour lesquelles il y a des problèmes dans un endroit particulier sont dues aux décisions prises dans les salles de conseil d’administration des entreprises ou au résultat des forces du marché qui font en sorte que le profit soit le principal critère qui détermine les lieux.

Bien que le changement climatique soit également un problème mondial, la pandémie était beaucoup plus immédiate et personnelle. Tout le monde ne peut éviter de prendre conscience du fait que nous sommes interconnectés. Cela signifie qu’il existe un potentiel pour développer des mouvements plus ciblés au niveau international. Le slogan « nous ne sommes pas en sécurité tant que tout le monde ne l’est pas » fait désormais partie du mode de pensée de nombreuses personnes. L’avenir dépend de la mesure dans laquelle nous pouvons nous appuyer sur les aspects positifs de la réponse de la base et créer un mouvement qui va au-delà des préoccupations et des demandes immédiates pour une rupture fondamentale avec le capitalisme et vers une société communiste libertaire.
