The battle of the popular masses still continues.
In the days after February 7th, the streets of Port-au-Prince, the Haitian capital, were occupied by thousands of people demanding that their will be respected. It is not the first time that in the history of Haiti that the masses through such a show of force have forced the respect their choice in the electoral process. Once again, the plan of the dominant classes of Haiti and their imperialist boss was thwarted, but for how long?

Theoretically Marxists and anarchists have the same goal. A stateless, classless, communist society. Both of us realise that this state of affairs won’t come about spontaneously through revolution or through the intercession of Lenin’s or Bukarin’s ghost. Rather it requires organisation and work. And it is on this question, the manner of organising society, of fighting for change, and of organising as revolutionaries that major differences emerge. read full story / add a comment

Open Letter to the USA published Green Anarchy magazine which has also been submitted to Anarkismo . We write to you because we see GA floating further and further away from genuinely caring about people and everyday struggles. We represent “dissent in your own ranks” because of the way you treat the leftist and the post-leftist anarchists with unrelenting criticism and disrespect combined with your excellent ability to theorize yourself into oblivion. We have talked to many people about GA and it seems that we are not alone in this critique. Some of us consider ourselves Eco-Anarchists while others have no labels. read full story / add a comment

Recently, Batay Ouvriyé, the Haitian workers' union has been under fire from Aristide supporters in relation to its politics before the coup and the source of its funding today. This debate has been marked by bitter accusations in both ways, and BO keeps rejecting the charges. In order to help to promote a healthy and constructive debate around the political issues at stake on the current denunciations on Batay Ouvriyé, we facilitate links to the articles so people can read the whole debate and make up their own minds on this particular issue. We hope this way, the debate is useful to clarify the practices of the organisation being questioned and to address fundamental issues concerning the development of a leftist line at the service of the Haitian people. read full story / add a comment

For almost a month, from mid-November until mid-December, 2004, we traveled in Venezuela, meeting an array of politically engaged activists from a variety of perspectives. Without a doubt, the foremost lesson we learned during our brief time there concerned the complexity of the social and political situation in the country, which has been consistently over-simplified in the United States. This essay is a brief attempt to convey some of our experience, with the goal of broadening the anarchist and left discussion of the situation on the ground. read full story / add a comment

In the past several months we have noticed a growing curiosity over developments in the South American country of Venezuela. Everywhere in our day-to-day projects, people are talking and asking about the populist government of Hugo Chavez and his self-proclaimed “Bolivarian Revolution”. However, we became particularly concerned in noticing no corresponding increase in anarchist knowledge of the situation read full story / add a comment
