The purpose of the COP15 Climate Summit that will take place in Copenhagen in December is to devise a successor for the completely inadequate Kyoto Treaty for reduction of carbon emissions. However, the prospects for an agreement that is ambitious enough to deliver social justice and climate justice are almost non-existent. For us, it is clear that the climate crisis cannot be solved within capitalism, and that environmental conflict is intrinsic to the capitalist system. This is because capitalism is based on constant expansion and infinite growth, this is clearly impossible on a planet with finite resources. read full story / add a comment

It was a long and protracted struggle that eventually ended in victory. In recent years climate change has loomed large in the public imagination. Scientifically, there is little doubt that it is a real threat to the future of human civilisation. The greenhouse effect has been known about since the early 19th century - gases in the atmosphere such as carbon dioxide, methane and water vapour trap heat from the sun, causing the climate of the planet to heat up over time. Ακηδεμόνευτα και αυτόοργανωμένα προετοιμάζουν εκείνη τη μέρα που θα διώξουν τον αφέντη και όλη την κουστωδία που τον συντηρεί. Κανένας νοήμον νους δεν πίστευε πότε, ότι θα υλοποιηθεί το έργο «νέο αεροδρόμιο Ηρακλείου στο Καστέλλι[h1] ». Δεν πίστευε ότι τον 21ο αιώνα θα φύτευαν ένα τέτοιο έκτρωμα ανάμεσα σε 34 χωρία, δίπλα σε ενεργό στρατιωτικό αεροδρόμιο, στην πιο καθαρή και γόνιμη πεδιάδα του νομού!!!!.
