For tens of thousands of years, humanity has existed, slowly changing our natural envrionment and ecology to meet our needs. However it is with the ascendancy of industrial based capitalism in the period of one hundred years that global warming has increased. read full story / add a comment

Our New Law and Order Government proposes to have police appoint judges, calls for mandatory sentencing, three strike laws, and the whole raft of authoritarian solutions to 'crime' . What they have missed doing is to actually reform the real failure in our so called 'justice' system. That failure is the lack of a genuine jury system. read full story / add a comment

I came across an interesting post on the decade of Jacksonian Democracy in America. Ten short years of real liberty in America. The era of the common man.
With reference to the founder of the Workingmans Party, George Henry Evans. Once again showing the link between libertarianism and communism. read full story / add a comment

Chechen behind Beslan massacre killed
It is ironic that prior to the Beslan assault the U.S. intelligence community heard noise about a potential terrorist threat. Their interpretation of that 'noise' was that Al Qaeda was preparing to disrupt the Republican convention. Such navel gazing resulted in this horrific massacre of school children. The noise was real, it just had nothing to do with the US. And everything to do with the old USSR. read full story / add a comment

Is what the headline should read.

Instead of the apologistics of the Minister of Defense. This is Canada after-all and yes we can decide which missions we want to go on. Thank you very much. Especially when our troops were lied to. Those who signed up under the impression our National Policy was Peacekeeping, now are working under the Harpocrites private agenda of War Making. They were mislead. read full story / add a comment

Found this interesting article at GNN on the nature of the Free Market, one that exists without capitalism. Of course in order to have a free market it has to be cooperative. Something my pals in the Mutualist movement have been at pains to point out. read full story / add a comment

"Now is then’s only tomorrow."

Kenneth Patchen was and is an underrated American poet, a surrealist, an anarchist, a founder of the Beat movement, a painter and illustrator. I came across his works when we ran Erewhon Books, the Anarchist Bookstore in Edmonton in the seventies and eighties. read full story / add a comment

Lagrange 5 is the point in space between the Earth and Moon that would allow a space station to exist forever without a deteroriating orbit. So why isn't being built there? Because capitalism can't stand anything that won't fail. Anarchist sci-fi author Mack Reynolds wrote a trilogy on L-5 that exposed the commonality of capitalist states both the American Monopoly Capitalist version and the Russian State Capitalist version. read full story / add a comment

Mack Reynolds -- Lagrange Five (1979)
Reynolds was, for 25 years, an activist for the U.S. Socialist Labor Party.
His radical perspective on political issues is reflected throughout his
work. This book -- examining a quasi-utopia without sentimentalism -- is
only one suggestion. Also of huge interest are Tomorrow Might Be Different
(1960) and The Rival Rigelians (1960), which explicitly examine the relation
between capitalism and Stalinism read full story / add a comment

I find it interesting that the right wing embraces feminism in Iran while denoucing it at home. They embrace unions in Iran while attacking them at home. Yep don't ask for consitency out of the right the only consitency they show is the one that says the enemy of my enemy is my friend. For a little while. read full story / add a comment
