El siguiente artículo es un balance del gobierno de Préval, haciendo énfasis en la continuidad de sus políticas sociales y económicas respecto al gobierno anterior, así como en el hecho de que las políticas implementadas sólo ahondan la crisis que se arrastra desde hace décadas. A la vez, es un análisis de las causas estructurales de la crisis y un llamado a buscar una alternativa libertaria y socialista de salida a la crisis. El viernes 22 de diciembre de 2006, más 400 militares brasileños acompañados de policiás haitianos atacaron a la madrugada un Barrio de Cité Soleil -llamado Bois Neuf- provocando, según cifras oficiales, 9 muertos. Pero testigos de la barbarie afirmaron que las personas asesinadas superaron la cifra de 20 y las heridas la de 80. Entre ellas aparecieron cadáveres de varios niños. Ese ataque, que duró varias horas, se realizó con blindados, fusiles automáticos de gran poder, helicópteros, etc., causando una verdadera tragedia entre los 300.000 habitantes de Cité Soleil, quienes viven en casitas de cartón, chapas, etc. Fue un ataque contra los más pobres de los pobres haitianos, bajo el falaz argumento o pretexto de eliminar a un grupo de bandidos que viven del secuestro. read full story / add a comment

Recientemente, hemos tenido la oportunidad de conversar con el compañero haitiano Henry Boisrolin sobre la crisis generalizada que afecta a su país. Henry actualmente reside en Argentina, donde a la cabeza del Comité Democrático Haitiano desarrolla una incansable labor de defensa de los derechos de los haitianos tanto en su país de origen como en tierras argentinas. Militante revolucionario, de pensamiento marxista-leninista, se cuenta entre quienes han trabajado ampliamente la solidaridad internacional con Ayití y actualmente preparan una plataforma de solidaridad internacional contra la ocupación haitiana. Urgent action alert from the Haiti Action Committee - December 24, 2006 In the early morning of Friday, December 22nd, starting at approximately 3 a.m., 400 Brazilian-led UN occupation troops in armored vehicles carried out a massive assault on the people of Cite Soleil, laying siege yet again to the impoverished community. Eyewitness reports said a wave of indiscriminate gunfire from heavy weapons began about 5 a.m. and continued for much of the day Friday -- an operation on the scale of the July 6, 2005 UN massacre in Cite Soleil. Desde el mismo momento que se iniciaron las “negociaciones” del TLC entre USA y Centroamérica y República Dominicana, en Costa Rica empezaron los cuestionamientos a dicho tratado y estos no han cesado hasta el día de hoy. Llama la atención que Costa Rica, país sin ejército (formalmente), sin una “izquierda” fuerte (como El Salvador y Nicaragua), sea el único país centroamericano cuyo parlamento no ha ratificado dicho TLC. read full story / add a comment

Hasta el observador más superficial de la realidad haitiana, se da cuenta que allí se está luchando por satisfacer necesidades primordiales de alimento en condiciones infrahumanas. Prácticamente, Haití, como nación empobrecida, está pagando un elevado tributo a las naciones ricas o medianamente ricas bajo nuevas formas de esclavitud. Paradójicamente, eso ocurre en la tierra donde por primera vez en la historia se había acabado con dicho régimen. En la tierra donde los más explotados de los explotados, se habían empeñado en forzar con coraje, sacrificio, sangre y dignidad, su ingreso en el concierto de los hombres libres. read full story / add a comment

We in Chile knew that this “Socialists” and Pinochetistas thugs could work smoothly, hand in hand in Haiti. After all, they’ve been doing it for 15 years in Chile, when in 1990 the transition to democracy marked this wedding of the Chilean macoutes and the opportunists politicians trained in Europe. The January 9 strike came two days after the death of the commander of U.N. military forces in Haiti Lt. Gen. Urano Bacellar. His death was initially reported as a suicide but U.N. Special Envoy to Haiti Juan Gabriel Valdes has implied in recent interviews to the Haitian press that it may have been an assassination by forces trying to disrupt the electoral process.
