mashriq / arabia / iraq / imperialism / war / press release Friday June 18, 2021 04:38 by International Delegation for Peace and Freedom   image 1 image
The UCL participated in the European delegation to observe the Turkish war crimes in Iraqi Kurdistan.
This delegation is taking place at a time when Erdogan is received at the NATO summit. His formal meeting with Macron does not hide his objective, which is obviously to legitimize his illegal invasion of Iraq, and to obtain from NATO a blank check to continue his military campaign.
His pretext: to eradicate the PKK, a "terrorist organization" according to the Council of Europe's blacklist.
His strategy: to intimidate European nations, to maintain bombings, military pressure and destruction of crops in Iraqi Kurdistan, to force Mahmoud Barzani's KDP to collaborate openly with him, against its brothers and sisters in Kurdistan.
At the time of publishing this information, the conference of the delegation has been prevented by the KDP, the hotel where it is held is surrounded by the military, and our comrades have been sent back to France after interrogation by the police of the KDP, traitor to the Kurdish cause. read full story / add a comment

Today, the world looks at Colombia, its streets and roads being the stage where people have shown dignified rage in a powerful cry which cannot go unnoticed. Social protests happening uninterruptedly since April 28 are the response to the exacerbation of poverty and the precariousness of life, immediate consequences of neoliberalism. Amid a sanitary, economic, and social crisis, the latter has manifested itself in 1.7 million Colombian families feeding themselves only two meals a day or less, a 14.2% unemployment rate, and nearly half of the population (42.2%) living in poverty. read full story / add a comment

Last night have shown the result of the accumulation of anger of the youth who are the main victims of the COVID-19 pandemic and crisis. There is a much increase of unemployment which brought the increase of pressure on Palestinians in Jerusalem and the multiethnic cities within Israel, as well as the intensity of police brutality in order to suppress the rallies and other mobilisations. read full story / add a comment

... to exist is in itself a victory, thus a role manifests itself, a role to represent the voices of Vietnamese radicals. We aim at the future working class, the youth, who are both perpetuating and oppressed by capitalism and the state so that they can break through its oppressive chains.

international / workplace struggles / press release Saturday May 01, 2021 07:28 by Melbourne Anarchist Communist Group   image 1 image
Capitalism in 2021 still hasn’t defeated the coronavirus pandemic and the downward trend in wage rises in advanced countries hasn’t changed. Social inequality continues to increase, while racism and misogyny are entrenched state policy. In many countries, capitalist democracy is crumbling. The radical workers’ movement which is being born is still young and weak, but the material conditions are helping it develop. This workers’ movement needs to unite internationally in order to overthrow capitalism and end all oppression worldwide. Anarchists need to be part of this movement, for it is our home. read full story / add a comment

Racist laws of the nationalistic patriarchy lead many Roma people, like Dimitra, in the Aliens’ detention centres, in PRO.KE.KA. Roma are not recognized as Greeks with equal rights. read full story / add a comment

The Centre-Periphery model of class struggle, as elaborated by FARJ (Anarchist Federation of Rio de Janeiro) in Social Anarchism and Organisation (2008), has been a much debated topic within ACM. This article will seek to explain the concept by analysing FARJ’s source for the concept in Rudolf De Jong’s ‘Some Remarks on the Libertarian Conception of Revolutionary Change’ (1975) before discussing the possible uses and applications for anarchists within so-called Australia. read full story / add a comment
