In this article, using an anarchist analysis, it will be argued that this lopsided trade, expansive investment and projection of state power by the South African ruling class are signs of the imperialist role they play in southern Africa. In undertaking this, it will be outlined how the South African ruling class, as an integral part of their imperialist role, are conducting a class war against the workers and the poor across sub-Saharan Africa. Through examining this class war, it will hopefully become clear that the South African state is being used as a key instrument by the ruling class – made up of capitalists and high-ranking state officials – to further their own interests in southern Africa. The consequence of highlighting the imperialist nature of the South African state also has implications for the strategies and tactics that should be used in struggle. It will be strongly argued that due to its hierarchical centralising and expansionist ambitions, the state cannot be used as a tool for liberation in South Africa or in the region. read full story / add a comment

Circa 250 persone hanno preso parte mercoledì sera alla marcia organizzata da Éirígí (Partito repubblicano socialista irlandese, ndt) durante il banchetto in onore della regina d'Inghilterra, presso il castello di Dublino. I membri del WSM (Workers Solidarity Movement) si sono uniti alla manifestazione ma la Garda (la polizia irlandese, ndt) ha intercettato la persona che trasportava le nostre bandiere e i nostri striscioni rendendoci invisibili. Questa è stata solo una parte della strategia di soppressione della protesta visibile che è stata adottata dalla Garda durante tutta la visita della regina d'Inghilterra, nonostante avesse precedentemente affermato che avrebbe "agevolato la protesta". “Late Sunday night local time, two U.S. helicopters from Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and carrying Team Six SEALs flew in low from Afghanistan… The raid began on the smaller of two buildings in [Bin Laden's] compound, where [Bin Laden's] couriers were believed to live. The raid then moved to the larger three-story building. “Two Bin Laden couriers were killed, as was Osama Bin Laden’s son Khalid and a woman. Two women were injured. Children were present in the compound but were not harmed. U.S. officials said that bin Laden was asked to surrender but did not. Una regione che fino a poco tempo fa era vista attraverso il velo razzista "occidentale" come endemicamente dittatoriale, ha deciso di mettersi in moto per la propria liberazione dall'autoritarismo storico. La gente in quasi tutti i paesi arabi ha iniziato a protestare per le proprie condizioni di vita e per i propri più elementari diritti, e questo crea uno scenario nel quale nulla è solido e tutto sembra malleabile, mutevole, fluido. WSM members joined the demonstration but Garda had intercepted the person transporting our flags and banner to the protest leaving us somewhat invisible. De aller fleste har kanskje fått med seg at Libya er et av de mange stedene i Midtøsten som har sett store sosiale opprør. La “Primavera Árabe” está cambiando la cara del Medio Oriente y del Norte de África de maneras insospechadas. Una región, que hasta hace poco era vista a través del velo racista de “occidente” como endémicamente dictatorial, ha decidido ponerse en marcha por su liberación de añejos autoritarismos. Los pueblos en casi todos los países árabes han comenzado a protestar por sus derechos más básicos y por las condiciones de vida, lo cual genera un escenario en el cual nada es sólido y todo aparece maleable, cambiante, fluido. Ya no hay miedo y el silencio no pareciera ser más una opción. Como resulta obvio, ni Palestina ni Israel pueden permanecer indiferentes a los vientos de cambio.
