This January, in Boston, NEFAC's US section continued our progress toward our own reformation. We enacted a constitution and a new internal structure that were developed over the spring and summer of 2008. We dedicated time to analyze the situation we face, in which the capitalist class faces difficulty in propping up its rotting order, and proves itself willing to stretch and to take risks to do so. Most of the working class in the US remains on the defensive, but many in the social movements are also discovering openings to move things forward. NEFAC-US members compared our local experiences and discussed strategies to advance our socialist and libertarian vision in the context of this crisis. After a long period of introversion and local focus, we see these as important steps toward building a fresh, publicly active, class-struggle anarchist group rooted primarily in the northeastern United States. We encourage the support of unions, neighborhood democracy, resistance to police brutality, support for political prisoners, models for mass education, and also a movement with teeth. Above all, we must struggle for what we need, not what the system is willing to give us. In addition, we must all be on the watch for expressions of racist hatred and organized fascist movements in the months and years following the election. En effet, les sections québécoises et américaines de la fédération ont décidé de former deux organisations solidaires mais indépendantes. Les 22 et 23 novembre, nous tiendrons un congrès dans la Métropole qui sera l’occasion d’adopter le manifeste et la constitution d’une nouvelle organisation communiste libertaire québécoise. About 300 anti-militarists took the streets Friday, March 28 in Quebec city. In a rare showing of unity, the main anti-capitalists groups of the city marched together, along with delegations from other cities, such as Montreal and Sherbrooke. Il y a 90 ans, la Canada était engagé dans une guerre impérialiste en Europe. Alors que le flot de volontaires se tarissait, les autorités se sont tournées vers la conscription pour continuer de fournir leur cote-part de chair à canon. C’était le 1er janvier 1918.
