Founder of the Uruguayan Anarchist Federation (FAU), an especifista anarchist organisation, Alberto "Pocho" Mechoso was also a unionist in the Meat Workers Federation and an active militant of the Organización Popular Revolucionario Orientales – 33 (OPR-33), the armed wing of the FAU that supported strikes and conducted kidnappings and expropriations of employers to finance the struggle.
In his later years, "Pocho" was active in the Popular Party for Victory (PVP), an organisation that dissolved the FAU within it. "Pocho" remained together with other comrades of the FAU within the PVP with the intention of re-establishing the especifista organisation.
Arrested in Buenos Aires on September 26, 1976, his body was found with seven others on the seabed, in barrels filled with cement, on May 23, 2012. We remember this comrade who, even without having known him, is very dear to us. His example will be present in our militant struggle, today and forever.

The Palestinians persist in the Tsumud mode of resistance. Israeli and international activists join whenever they can - mainly in the region of the hills south of Hebron and the Jordan river. Israeli state forces increase their efforts to exclude the internationals but limited by world PR. In spite of the warmongering, the world economic recession, and the hot weather, the social struggle continues in the main cities. The focus of repression of the joint struggle against the occupation and settler colonialist encroaching lands near settlements was a day after day invasion and harassment in the heroic village of Nabi Saleh. Por estos días nuestro compañero, Hébert Mejías Collazo, el viejo, ha tenido que sobrellevar algunos problemitas de salud. Motivo por el cual –entre otras cosas- hemos extrañado sus permanentes mensajes de aliento y solidaridad con los que luchan. Pero aunque han sido días difíciles, Hébert ha estado permanentemente atento, preguntando y preocupado por aquellas causas a las que siempre ha ofrecido su brazo solidario. This year marks the 76 anniversary of the ‘Spanish Civil War’ which is one of the most mis-understood conflicts in the 20th century. For some particular those wedded to a traditional view of history the war was merely between the forces of fascism and those committed to defending the democratically elected Republican Government. It is also this time of year when we will be greeted with a range of lectures and talks organised by the Communist Party inspired International Brigades Commemoration Committee across Ireland which deliberately distorts the reality of the 'civil war'. However, for anarchists nothing could be further from the truth. La Encuesta de Población Activa (EPA) del II Trimestre de 2012, hecha pública hoy, indica una nueva cifra histórica del paro llegando a alcanzar el 24,63% de la población activa, lo que ratifica que la reforma laboral del gobierno era para facilitar el despido y hacerlo más barato.
