... read full story / add a comment

Ø Diplomatic Corp. is a drain on Haiti’s budget because of their unproductive state and their incompetent members.

Ø HPP exhorts President Préval’s and the Haitian parliament in Haiti to recall the Diplomatic Corps immediately, and investigate why official documents intended for the Haitian government are being withheld by members of the Diplomatic Corp and their mishandling of Haiti’s affairs.

Ø A new generation of Haitians less than 40 years of age are waiting to assist in reinforcing core Haitian institutions. They are well qualified and willing to work on behalf of the Haitian people. Moreover, this generation has not been involved in any corruption, which has tarnished Haiti’s image. ... read full story / add a comment

To Mr. Kenton Kirby, Editor

We are responding to the letter to the editor by Concerned Dominicans (CD) in the March 21, 2007 issue of Caribbean Life. We don't know who the letter was referring to at all. There was no reference in the letter to any statements that could help identify the author of the articles and what they said. The reader has no idea what the Concerned Dominicans are talking about or what they are answering to. In 'Stop Spreading Hate about the D.R.', the authors, Concerned Dominicans (CD), generated nothing but hatred and ill-will. ... read full story / add a comment

"It's time to make our presence felt, and demand real change - and an end to Zionism's war." "This Road is for Jews Only." "Yes, There is Apartheid in Israel" - Shulamit Aloni
Jewish self-righteousness is taken for granted among ourselves to such an extent that we fail to see what's right in front of our eyes. It's simply inconceivable that the ultimate victims, the Jews, can carry out evil deeds. Nevertheless, the state of Israel practises its own, quite violent, form of Apartheid with the native Palestinian population. ... read full story / add a comment

This is a call for art and photo submissions for the next issue of Perspectives on Anarchist Theory, the tri-annual publication of the Institute for Anarchist Studies (http://www.anarchist-studies.org). Currently, the journal is being revamped, and as part of this effort we are trying to implement a lot more visual style.

The theme of the spring 2006 issue, due out in late May, is “Borders and Migration,” including writings by the o.r.g.a.n.i.c. collective, Melancholic Troglodytes, Angela Mitropolous, Peter Lamborn Wilson, and others.

Please send submissions, suggestions, questions to indyrad@riseup.net .

Through our work we have met some amazing sisters and brothers in struggle in Mexico, Canada, the United States and all across the world. We have begun to learn about each other and as a result, learn more about other groups and struggles emanating from what we believe to be similar and related causes...

We are therefore proposing the creation of a no border activist network between groups in Mexico, Canada and the U.S. We have taken only a few steps toward the realization of this network. This is obviously a huge and complex endeavor, so our goal is to place enough tangible information before you so that many aspects can be developed more collectively and organically. ... read full story / add a comment

A statewide Hispanic boycott crippled Georgia's economy for a day. What's next?

By Alyssa Abkowitz

Published 03.29.2006

Josefa Esquea told customers she wouldn't be open Friday. The Dominican Republic immigrant -- who came to New York City in the 1980s and then relocated to Atlanta -- planned on participating in the strike she heard about on a Hispanic radio station. She knew she'd lose business by closing her popular MiPilon restaurant in Duluth, but she wanted to send the Georgia General Assembly a message: The state's economy needs us.

"We're here to invest money and contribute to society," Esquea says. "We work hard and do our jobs and want to be appreciated. We're tired of living in the shadows." ... read full story / add a comment
