Am 21.5.2008 stürmten WEGA Beamte um ca. 07:00 Uhr mehrer Wohnungen in Wien. Einige der teilweise noch schlafenden BewohnerInnen wurden mit gezogenen Waffen in ihren Betten geweckt. Betroffen von den Hausdurchsuchungen waren mindestens vierzehn Menschen in Österreich. Around 7:00 am on Wednesday May 21 members of the Viennese elite police force (WEGA) stormed several apartments in Vienna. Some of the residents were woken up in their beds with guns drawn on them. A total of twenty-three (23) apartments, houses and offices were searches in Vienna, Lower Austria, Styria and Tirol. The grounds for the searches was the accusation Formation of a Criminal Organization according to §278a of the criminal code. There were arrest warrants for 10 of the people targeted by the searches. The basis of the arrest warrants was the accusation of Danger of the Destruction of Evidence (because, for example, the targeted people communicated via encrypted e-mails) as well as Danger of Commiting a Crime (partially because the targeted people have been active in the animal rights scene for a long time). ... read full story / add a comment

Fred Alpi, der gerne als der "französische Billy Bragg" bezeichnet wird und aktives Mitglied der anarchosyndikalistischen CNT ist, wird am 28. September sein neues Album im Roten Salon der Berliner Volksbühne vorstellen. Drei weitere Konzerte in Deutschland werden folgen. Bereits im Berlin der 80er schrieb er mit der Band „Sprung aus den Wolken“als Teil der Geniale-Dilettanten-Bewegung, zu der u.a. auch die Einstürzenden Neubauten zählten, Musikgeschichte. In den vergangenen Jahren mischte er als Gitarrist der Pariser Streetpunk-Combo „Brigada Flores Magon“ die einschlägigen Clubs auch in Deutschland des öfteren auf. Die FAU präsentiert ihn nun von einer anderen Seite. Anarchist Summer Camp 2007 Resistance - we hold this to be a synonym of vitality. In this spirit, the second anarchist summer camp in Austria should be a week spent living together, loving, laughing, debating, making plans, dancing, gathering ideas, cuddling and doing whatever else catches our fancy. The camp is not a holiday (the latter resulting from the separation of work and leisure time, which is dictated by society). Inzwischen hat sich die politische Klasse in der Bundesrepublik auf die Sprachregelung geeinigt, die Richard von Weizsäcker längst schon vorgegeben hatte: Das Datum der Kapitulation Hitler-Deutschlands ist historisch zu deuten als "Tag der Befreiung". Nur gelegentlich fällt heute noch ein deutscher Politiker aus der Rolle und spricht, wenn es um das Frühjahr 1945 und das Ende des "Dritten Reiches" geht, von "Niederlage" oder "Zusammenbruch".
